Acupuncture

Acupuncture utilizes a series of energetic pathways in the body commonly referred to as ‘The Meridian System’. All disease can be looked at as an improper flow through this series of channels. Through the use of gentle needling, Acupuncture can have an effect on this series of channels and correct any imbalances that are manifesting as current disease.

Thai Massage

Thai Massage is an ancient form of massage that is practiced with 'metta' (a Buddhist form of loving kindness).

This work consists of a series of compression, stretching, pulling and acupressure- all done within the rhythm of gentle rocking.

The rhythm of this work is GREAT for improving flexibility in the musculature as well as the joints. It also down regulates the stress response and helps to sooth anxiety. It proves especially beneficial for leg, hip and back pain.

**contraindicated for pregnancy**

Herbal Medicine

The Chinese Herbal Formulas I use are gentle food grade roots, leafs, nuts, plants... etc that are boiled down into a tea, made into a tincture, or dried and ground down to make capsules. These formulas are gentle but profound. They are typically tailored to the constitution of the individual and can be used with or without Acupuncture Needling sessions to support change in physiology. These formulas are gentle nudges in a system that helps to get momentum moving in a positive direction.

Reiki

Reiki comes from a Japanese word meaning life-force energy and is perceived as the essence of existence that flows through each of us uniting the body, emotions, mind and spirit. Reiki may be received through physical touch or by energy emanating from the hands from a distance. Reiki can help fix metabolism and autoimmune issues including food intolerances and chemical sensitivities. Reiki may be used in combination with other health practices to help them be more effective.

Reiki is not yet covered by insurance, but we have hope that it will be covered someday soon as it is essential to bring the mind and body together as you journey down the path to wellbeing. Although it may seem mystic, Reiki has so much research behind it showing its effectiveness that it has begun to be used in hospitals. To help you consider whether Reiki might be right for you, visit the National Library of Medicine's PubMed site to review Reiki experiments.

SWEDISH - A gentle and relaxing form of bodywork that involves long fluid strokes to milk the muscles, increase lymph drainage, improve circulation and down regulate the nervous system.

DEEP TISSUE - This type of work builds on Swedish massage techniques and also includes deep pressure along certain muscle groups to break through patterning of habitually contracted muscles (knots).

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic fluid carries the cells that fight off infection/disease. The smooth rhythm of this system is also responsible for cleaning up abnormal cells and cellular waste. The more ease there is in the movement of this network, the healthier and stronger we have the capacity to be. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) uses light touch techniques to stimulate an increase in movement of lymphatic fluid. This work is very different from traditional massage methods. First opening the cervical (neck), axillary (armpit), and inguinal (groin) areas where many lymph nodes are. Then opening the “highways” that carry lymph between these areas, and finally stimulating the smallest lymph vessels in the arms and legs. This modality is gentle, nourishing, and very supportive.

PHILOSOPHY

Our Philosophy

IMG_1737_edited.jpg

It is my patients that shape my practice. So what walks in my door, is what I learn about. It is such a unique walk to take with someone – from sickness to wellness. It is certainly not linear, it is full of surprises and gains and losses and then more gains. It is holy ground – and I approach it with that reverence. There is nothing more precious than the vulnerability of illness. And there is nothing more softening, more expanding and more empowering, than that walk from illness to wellness. It is the honor of my life to witness that journey. I am unwavering.

Even though I've been practicing Reiki for over twenty years, Reiki still amazes me every day. When my clients and I uncover and release hidden issues causing their illness, I'm so happy to be a Reiki practitioner. It has been difficult for me to offer a practice that is not yet generally seen as legitimate by our society. Today, there are plenty of legitimate, scientific experiments that show Reiki's effectiveness, but not when I began doing Reiki in 2003. I'm glad that I stuck with it! My own health has improved so much and the joy of channeling Reiki energy, teaching Reiki, and guiding others towards wellness, especially during Covid has been a blessing I never anticipated. There's so much we can learn from each other. Our bodies have so much to tell us. Personally, I am delighted to see how modern healthcare is beginning to connect to the wisdom of our ancient ancestors. The two together are powerful and empowering! I am grateful to be part of this great time of discovery.
